2021 ACC Jury Committee Diversity Policy

  • Date: 07/2021

Our Creative Tech Director, Kyoko Yonezawa has been appointed as the chair of the Creative Innovation category of the ACC TOKYO CREATIVITY AWARDS since last year.

She has been thinking about how she can help to tackle the inequality that lays deeply among the Japanese industry. And this year, ACC has released a statement titled "2021 Jury Committee Diversity Policy", appointing four-woman out of seven jury chairs for the 2021 award. (In 2020, it was two out of seven).

They are still in the process of finalizing the rest of the juries but we believe there will be a significant improvement compared to last year.

We're proudly sharing this news.

Kyoko's Comment:

Last year I raised the issue of inequality of the advertising industry in ACC TOKYO CREATIVITY AWARDS panel. After many discussions with ACC and various members of the juries, ACC has released a document about this year's judging panel diversity policy. The fact that the most recognizable local award spoke up is a very important, as well as an essential step for the future of the advertising industry in Japan. On the other hand, this is just the beginning, and I believe that steady efforts will be needed everywhere to resolve this issue fundamentally. I would like to reaffirm my commitment.
