Project Pillar

  • Date: 06/2021

Have you ever seen W+K Tokyo office from outside? The pillars you can see have"Kintsugi" applied on them.

Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique used to beautifully join broken pieces of pottery using plant-based Japanese lacquer mixed with gold powder. In recent years, Kintsugi is becoming well known among artists all over the world as a new technique to add to their art, and that is where Ryota got the inspiration to apply Kintsugi design to our pillars. He then focused on a genre of Kintsugi called "Yobitsugi," which is a method used to connect totally different pieces together.

The pillar designs were created by art director, Ryota Tsukamoto using collaged artifacts and photos submitted by our people.

Please be sure to check them out and take a close look at them, when you get a chance to visit our Tokyo office.  Ryota and the team, thank you so much for all of your hard work!
